Purchased from the Boy Scouts in 1956, the District of Columbia Girl Scouts used this bayside camp for day and resident camp. Camp Bay Breeze , located on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay, provides those who visit the chance to hunt for fossils and sharks teeth. The units were Chippewa with 8 platform tents, Mahogalite with 8 platform tents, and Whispering Pines with 9 platform tents. The camp also offered 5 cabins, a lodge and a dining hall. The foundation for the dining hall and one latrine remains. Bay Breeze was the first integrated camp owned by the council where African American girls could camp.
The camp suffered severe cliff erosion causing the lodge, dining hall and several units to fall into the bay.
In 1974, this former Girl Scout resident camp, was sold to the state of Maryland. Although sold to the state the camp is still used every summer for Girl Scout day camp.
